Edo Kaaij lives and works in Amsterdam. This is a city he finds constantly inspiring due to its vibrant energy, the stunning ancient architecture and most of all the enormous cultural diversity of its inhabitants. Edo has loved and lived to paint since his early childhood working alongside his grandfather, the Dutch naïve artist Cornelis Kaaij. His style of painting has evolved over the years from abstract work in his teenage years to a fascinating blend of figurative and abstract textures we see in his work today. His impressive unique style reflects the beauty and kindness he sees in people all around. His paintings are a dynamic mix of pallet knife textures combined with a glorious use of light reflections and colour. "I'm always looking for a balance in the contrast of abstract and figurative form in my work, whereby I often let the subject prevail."
